Looking at top while playing the video I see that mplayer is using only one core. The framerate is low and audio gets desynced and then drops. **** Your system is too SLOW to play this! **** Source image dimensions are too high: 3840x2160 (maximum is 2048x2048) Both use xv video output by default, which cannot handle 4k video. I have vlc and mplayer installed from RPM Fusion. Totem is a disaster on screens of this res, as it doesn't work well with gnome's internal scaling for high dpi displays, so I'm not even considering it. I'd like to play it on my 4k screen but I haven't found an ideal solution in Fedora. My brother has been taking some footage with the new gopro 4k camera (it creates 3840x2100 h264 video). (In other words, there should be no problems playing 4k video). Quad Core 2.4 GHz i7 w/ hyperthreading and speedboost up to 3.3GHz. I have a Lenovo Y50 with a 4k (3840x2160) screen, and Nvidia Optimus technology - so two GPUs, the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 860M - and Fedora 20 installed.
